Clever details, snarky graphics put unique spin on this puzzle game

Into every life, a little rain must fall. That aphorism also applies to blocks, and as Ngmoco’s Topple proves, it makes for a great game for the iPhone and iPod touch.

Macworld user reviews IN DETAIL:

Great game with whimsical graphics

This is an imaginative game in which you tap the screen to drop blocks from the top of the screen to the bottom. The goal is to create a tower of a certain height within a particular length of time. But watch out! The blogs become more irregularly shaped as the game levels progress. What makes this game a winner are the graphics. The backgrounds are reminiscent of Dr. Seuss or the classic animated cartoons of the 1960s. The blocks, rather than being inanimate objects, seem to be alive as they make amusing facial expressions as you drop them. The music is good, although a little repetitive. It would be better if the game had longer musical loops. Music and sound effects can be turned off in the preferences. The free version, rather than being just a teaser, gives plenty of satisfying gameplay.
