Macworld user reviews IN DETAIL:

The best game out there

The best game out there'Peggle' by PopCap Games is a fantastic game with outstanding graphics, game play and bursting action. The aim of this game is to launch a ball and hit as many orange pegs as you can. You start off with ten balls in each level and you need to hit all of the orange pegs within the 10 ball limit. This review is going to be quite a long one as there are so many features within this game.First I'll start off with Adventure Mode. This mode is basically the campaign choice as you run through every level, after a certain amount of levels, you get to a new stage and there you can use the next character. This keeps you playing for a while as you want to see what the next characters are and their special powers are.Next up is the Unique Special Powers for each character you pick. As you are shooting at pegs you will come across the green pegs (2 in each level) that are extremely useful, these allow you to use the special power for the character you have.Let's say we pick Renfield, the pumpkin head. Renfields' special power is that of a ball reappearing at the top of the level directly above where it fell down the bottom.Lord Cinderbottoms' special power is a fire ball which once activated, can pass through all of the pegs in the balls' path. There are 10 characters all of which have different powers; this is good as you will eventually choose a character that you favour over other characters.Once you have completed Adventure mode, you unlock the Challenges. Whether these challenges include extra orange pegs, a ball limit of less, or high point specification, these challenges are sure to keep you playing and annoy you at the very highest point when you have only 1 ball left and you just can't reach the last peg.If you just want to play a quick game which allows you to pick a certain level, you can do that by choosing Quick play. You can pick over 50 levels (once unlocked) and play straight away without any specifications, pick a level and a ch

Absolutely absorbing

This is the most interesting game I've ever played, and the most difficult to stop playing. It's got features of a pinball machine, but Peggle is to pinball as a supercomputer is to a typewriter. You just decide which direction to shoot your own ball and you have all the time in the world to think about it. The lack of time pressure is one of the things I love about this - I have a stressful life with lots of deadlines, and when I play I want to be relaxed. What happens after you shoot is so engrossing that hours pass, and there's no way words would do it justice. The graphics are fantastic. These folks made a very intelligent, fascinating game. I hope they make many more!

Another awesome title from PopCap Games

I saw this on the list of new game apps and decided to give it a try. I was VERY happy I gave it a couple minutes, now i can't stop playing!Very intuitive design added to an old idea. Different "power-up" pegs to hit, characters, level design... All top notch!
