rRootage is a classic shoot'em up originally written by Kenta Cho of ABA Games in 2003. He has allowed this to be ported to the iPhone/iPod Touch by Lazrhog Games for FREE distribution on the Appstore.
Initially the game will take you to a website that explains in some detail how to play each of the games Modes. You can hit the play button at the top at any time to bypass loading the webpage, which will take you to the game, and allow you unlimited playing time.
The game will save your progress as you go, so see if you can clear all the Stages !
The game gets very very busy on the latter Stages, so things can slow down, but your ship is still maneuverable and you will with careful play manage to find a way through :)
Have fun, I hope you enjoy the game.

Old-school gamers will appreciate this eye-popping shoot ’em up
Japanese developer Kenta Cho has developed a reputation for distillation. Not of the alcohol kind, but rather, for taking the essence of the shmup—the shoot ‘em up—and distilling it to purity by replacing all of the eye candy in the average shooter with abstract geometric shapes and objects. It also helps that Cho’s games are free. His work is a favorite of “old school” gamers and others who love unusual-looking games. And his work—originating on Windows—has been translated to other platforms, including Mac OS X. So it shouldn’t be any surprise that it’s ended up on the iPhone and iPod touch, in the form of rRootage thanks to the efforts of Lazrhog Games.
rRootage is an odd game. It is a top-down shooter, the standard "you control a spaceship at the bottom, shooting upwards at waves of enemies", except the enemy is entirely composed of bosses shooting a never-ending stream of destructive energy down at you. These are sometimes described as 'manic shooters'. Bullet dodging is the biggest part of the game, since you never upgrade, and shooting is contant. All you have to do is move your finger to control the ship. The movements are precise, and acted as I expected 100% of the time. The graphics are pure vector graphics, but this fit the old-timey feel of the game. For free, this is highly recommended.
