Our user reviews IN DETAIL:
Best Weight Loss App
I lost 10 pounds a month for the first month using this app. I set it to lose 2 pounds a week and I did and and more. As long as I counted my calories and followed the calorie limit, I lost the weight it said I would. You can't ask for more than that. Comparing this to MyFitnessPal which clearly 90% of the positive reviews are from the developers and they delete almost all the negative reviews. I posted the truth about MyFitnessPal and a day later that review was deleted. The truth about MyFitnessPal is it's suggested calorie count is dangerously low. If Lose It tells you that you can only have 1800 calories to lose 2 pounds then MyFitnessPal will tell you can only have 1500 calories. This gets really bad when Lose It says you can only have 1400 calories because MyFitnessPal will tell you that you can only have 1000-1100 calories and that is extremely dangerous. I messaged them about it and got no response. I told them they should go by a dietitian's recommendation and again no response. So their recommended calories is not based on medical suggestions at all. No other app recommends such a low calorie count to lose the same 2 pounds. If you want a safe and effective way to lose weight then go with Lose It. Avoid MyFitnessPal at all costs.
Problem: Units of Measurement
Nice app design - but with serious flaw - as can be seen from the iTunes screenshots - only available units are volumes like "Each" and "Cup" - no weight units. I'd like to use this mobile app - but until this issue is resolved - I'm sticking with "CRON-O-Meter" which wisely offers "grams" as a default - as well as other units (unlike this app). "CRON-O-Meter" is free but not mobile. It is cross platform and open source - with nutritional information from the USDA National Nutrient Database (which is also very useful on its own at http://www.nal.usda.gov/fnic/foodcomp/search/"). PS Lost It! should also identify its (presumably reliable) nutritional information source.
Great motivator to watch what I eat
This is the easiest way to monitor what I eat and provides constant motivation to eat the right types and amounts of food. You see a direct correlation between exercise and what you can eat so you're likely to take a walk, or a bike ride, whatever, in order to reward yourself. Not only is this my favorite app, it's the best for me!
