"Notebooks is the most useful app I have on my iPhone." - George Hart
Notebooks is the one and only notebook that you'll ever need. It allows you to conveniently write, capture and organize your ideas, notes, reminders, to-dos, journals, diaries or details of life that you want to keep close at hand. If you need to take an important note, or search for one, you'll always have the ultimate notebook at your fingertips!
Notebooks also stores photos from the iPhone Camera or any documents that you import as PDF, MS Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint), Apple iWork 09 (Pages, Numbers, Keynote with preview included), Rich Text (RTF) HTML, or Safari web archive.
So whether you want to draft or outline a business presentation, type a chapter of your short-story, write an entry in your diary or journal, type an important e-mail, add to your wine list, or just capture notes and ideas on the go, you need to have Notebooks on your iPhone today!
What can you do with Notebooks?
- Organize notes into arbitrarily nested books and move, restructure and rename them at will
- Sort your notes by title, date, or manually drag them into any new order you want
- Edit files in both Portrait, and Landscape modes
- Cut, copy and paste text between notes
- Change and resize fonts with pinch and zoom, or skim through your notes with intuitive gestures
- Quickly find your notes with full-text search
- E-mail the notes
- Password protect your confidential notes (if you wish)
- Synchronize notes and files between Notebooks and your WebDAV server like MobileMe, swissdisk, myDisk ...
- Import, export and synchronize notes and files between Notebooks and your computer over WiFi (Bonjour)
- Quickly import your Palm Memos (a guide is available at our website)
… and much more.
Usage scenarios
- Note taking on the go: prepare the draft for a business presentation, collect ideas for your novel, write a review or type an email you want to send later.
- Type the meeting minutes and send them out while on the way back to your office.
- Write your travel journal and put your flight plan and travel information into Notebooks so they are close at hand.
- Type long emails or store your email templates.
- Work on your writing project wherever you are, even when waiting for the bus or attending a boring meeting.
- Use Notebooks as you knowledge base and store all important pieces and snippets of information.
- Collect your wine notes or recipes.
… I guess you get the idea.
A note to Mac OS X 10.6 users: there is a known issue between SyncDocs and 10.6. Please refer to our website for further details.

Mac blogger (and occasional Macworld contributor) John Gruber wrote about the excellent Mac software Yojimbo a couple of months ago. According to Gruber, Yojimbo’s frictionless file creation (like Stickies, you never have to save your work—it’s saved as you type) and search were “like having a mind with an unfailing memory.”
