Helping DJs mix, one record at a time.
✔ Tap tempo
Working out the BPM (beats per minute) of a song couldn’t be simpler—just tap along with the song. Unlike some other counters, Beats uses intelligent averaging that hones in on the correct BPM the more you tap.
✔ Advanced DJ metronome
A versatile metronome that supports beat, duple and triplet timing, and can be “pushed” and “pulled” to get it in sync with songs in the same way DJs beatmix on CDJs or Technics 1200s.
Four metronome sound sets are included: click, 808, 909 and live drums.
✔ Key mixing aid
Beats also includes a piano keyboard, specifically designed for keying records. It displays the chromatic mixing options for the last key pressed, letting you know which other records will mix harmonically.
Knowing which keys mix also helps when using acapellas or producing mash-ups.
For more information about key mixing, please read our key mixing help document on our website.
Please note: You will need speakers or headphones for audio on a first generation iPod Touch.
“A great little app for helping you find the BPM and key of your records. I also use it in the studio when writing and sampling. Definitely one for DJs and producers.” - Luc Wiesman, Duosseudo

App has a beat, and you can dance to it
by Dale Gardner, Macworld.com
If you dance—anywhere from a rave to your junior prom—you’ve seen it. The music is loud, the lights are low. Dancers are moving in time to a hypnotic beat. Suddenly, the spell is broken as movements become disjoint and jerky. What happened? The music changed—and, as it did, so did the beat. Suddenly missing their reference point, dancers have to work to reestablish their mental and physical connection to the music.
