New name and features highlight BuzzTalk; Tick Talk delivers limited news

MediaQuake developed a fine news “reading” application for the iPhone and iPod touch—a time saver and a productivity enhancer that let you create playlists of news and blogs to listen to while on the go. But the original app was bedeviled by a few minor bugs and the worst name ever conceived by man or marketing executive: PimpMyNews. When I reviewed the app in May 2009, I wrote: “Hate the name, don’t hate the news player.”

Macworld user reviews IN DETAIL:

Creative approach for keeping up with news and blogs

This app lets you select your favorite news and blog feeds and converts them to audio so you can listen to them, which is nice since you can drive, etc, and listen at the same time. You can pick a topic like Sports, Technology, etc when you download it, but to fully customize your sources you need to log into the main site on your computer. The daily podcast feature gives you a stream of stories to listen to, or you can tap individual stories for listening. Looking forward to the updates.
