Mobile companion to online service puts all your notes in your pocket
Like the desktop version of Evernote (
) I recently reviewed, Evernote for the iPhone is a tool for capturing and viewing data stored on your account at evernote.com. An Evernote account is required to use the application and there are two account flavors; free and somewhat limited, and paid with more features for $5 per month or $45 per year. While paid accounts offer some interesting extras, free will work for most users, especially at first.

Macworld user reviews IN DETAIL:
Good app
I have been using Evernote for quite some time. It's syncing capabilities are great and the ability to organize notebooks in the user interface is very easy to do. Evernote works well as an iPhone application, but it's camera capturing feature could be improved. It would be useful to be able to resize captured photos to fit in a note, instead of being an attachment. There should also be a way to make notes private/secure.
Almost a 5
I would have given this 5â but there is no way to tag safari items with this app on your iphone. Otherwise...it is great. I take pictures of items at the store that I am interested in which has saved me time.
A wealth of features, but...
Evernote has a wealth of features, and having a button in Safari for adding content is a blessing. What does tend to bother me, however, is not being able to retrieve my data if, for some reason, my phone doesn't have service. The benefits of cloud syncing are, understandably, a great feature, but there are also advantages to being able to sync via WiFi LAN and have your data stored on the device. Hence, I've been using both Evernote and ShoveBox, unable to make a decision on which to keep and which to part with. I also like the formatting of copied content using ShoveBox. The style is preserved, where it is not on Evernote.
Even my grandmother can use it.
Pre 3.0, I always had syncing issues. Since the upgrade, sync has been flawless across all platforms. The more and more I use evernote the more I love its simplicity and effectiveness to gather and organize my day to day life. The program is so simple to use that I downloaded the windows version for my 82 yo grandmother and she uses it to as a huge archive for recipes and knitting stuff.
Great app
I love this app. Everything works great about it. If I'm out and about, I can easily pull my iPod Touch out of my pocket and write a quick note to self. The only thing I'd complain about is the quality of the microphone recordings. All five stars!
Comprehensive way to organize your digital life
The Evernote iPhone app is only part of the story. With Evernote, you keep your digital life organized by creating notebooks of photos, web-clippings, text notes, audio notes, and forwarded emails. You add/delete change your notebook content via the Evernote website, your iPhone app, and/or the Mac/PC desktop application. Evernote really listens to user feedback and is constantly innovating. It is getting easier to use and more attractive as time goes on. I suspect future versions will put them at five mice in my book.
One of those apps I don't know how I lived without...
This is the "capture everything" app and I love it. Whether it's text, an entire webpage, an image, a PDF - evernote can store it and (when tagged) can be searched through effortlessly. As a creative director, I've stored numerous news articles and inspirational design samples to reference at a moments notice.
Got Evernote, get the App. Don't have Evernote? Get it.
This is a great service and a great app. Very functional and well done. Don't know what I did without it.
A great app,just got better.
On the fly notes from the Internet
I have used this on my multiple computers in order to access whatever was of interest at the time. From multiple computers at home and now to my iPhone.
