1Password Review

Mobile app teams up well with desktop version

1Password for the iPhone is a tool that lets you record user names and passwords for Web sites, along with free-form notes, and store them securely on your iPhone. It shares a name with 1Password for the Mac (), a $35 program that makes it super-simple to not only save Web site login information, but to automatically log in to those sites in your browser of choice. 1Password for the Mac is an excellent program; we covered it briefly in this Mac Gems column from last year. Also, if you own 1Password for the Mac, you can sync your iPhone/iPod touch data with your Mac—and this works in both directions, so records can be added on the iPhone and then synced to your Mac, and vice-versa.

Macworld user reviews IN DETAIL:

Beats out e-wallet

I have been using e-wallet and find I password to be a superior product. I look forward to future up-grades, particularly more wallets e.g. for cars, and other records. Edit ability is also a future must. I must say though that the tech support is very responsive and I appreciative of them staying on top of things and listening to their customers. I look forward to future up-grades.

Great App. Works Seamlessly together with 1Password on the Mac

I really love this app. I've been looking for an app that can store my passwords for all the logins, and my sensative info that I don't want to keep in my wallet, i.e. insurance cards, dental cards, credit card info, drivers license info, Network info, etc. I can sync it not only between my home computer and my iphone, but it works between my macbook as well. Finally a good password and login program that is SECURE! And, they add templates for wallet info as people make suggestions. They reply to emails promptly and personally. I wish all software companies were this easy to work with and had such great products.

GREAT Password App!

This is THE BEST (next to the Pro version) password app out there! Works great on the Mac with the desktop client & integrates with web browsers!

Verify useful app

It's a very useful app - IF you use a Mac as your primary computer. Roger

Worth EVERY cent!

This is one of those apps that you kind of resent 'paying' for. I mean, after all, it doesn't crunch numbers, it doesn't render video, it doesn't do any of those cool, whiz-bang things you bought a computer for in the first place...What it does do, however, is allow you to really secure your online life. You can use unique usernames and unique STRONG passwords for every account log in you have. It has a 'wallet' where you keep your credit cards. Every time you need to fill in a credit card number, 1Password will fill it in for you. What about all those pesky membership numbers? Yep - keeps those too!More importantly, 1Password just works the way you'd want it to. It seamlessly manages your passwords. When you log in to an account and they 'force' you to change your password, 1Password offers to remember the new password for you. And if you want, it will generate random strong passwords that meet any criteria you set (upper/lower case, numbers, symbols etc) and fill them in for you! Finally, 1Password is offered on the iPhone and iPod-Touch... so you'll always have these things available when you're out. Spend hours filling all this into your iPhone? Fah-Get-about-it! 1Password wirelessly syncs to your iPhone! And if your phone gets stolen? Not to worry, as on your computer, your data is encrypted, and no one's gettin' in without the master password! 1Password: The only password you'll ever have to remember again!

Finally

I only give it 3 in ease if use because it takes a learning curve. BUT, this is the program I have been looking for ever since the iPhone came out. I used 2 different programs before, neither of which would sync with both the Mac and iPhone. One was developing the program for Mac desk top, the other was developing the app for the iPhone. Both responded (that's nice, but didn't help) they were developing their program to be used in all Mac systems (NOT!!!)I finally found 1Password, WOW!!! Thank you for understanding there are those of us that have an iPhone and also use Mac computers as our daily computers. Goodbye Passport Plus! Goodbye eWallet! Hope you have some Mac users left when you finally figure out that Mac is really more than just the iPhone (ewallet) or more than just a home computer (Passport Plus). Thank you 1Password, I transferred all my data from Passport Plus to 1Password and within a few minutes then after a few more was synced totally to my iPhone, I finally had all that data on my iPhone
