App lacks some polish, but handles Internet-based texting well
Textfree Unlimited, a $6 app with a free lite counterpart, aims to let you send text messages for free, without using the SMS app or your mobile provider. Other apps such as SMS Touch () have the same aim, but Textfree handles Internet-based texting much more elegantly .
the apps itself is really usefull but sometimes the a single text takes about half an hour for my friend to receive it.

I got this app, the free version originally. I tried it out for several months and debated about getting the unlimited version since I don't text all that much. I finally broke down and got the unlimited version. The application does what it says it does, allows you to send free texts to your friends. I've started texting more now that I don't have to pay per text message. I've only had 2 drawbacks with this application. 1) When I tried to switch from the free version to the unlimited one, my profile name was already taken and I had to jump through some hoops to get the same user name I already had. With that said, the support team at Pinger was very fast and got the problem resolved in short order. 2) At times, the push notification takes a little while to show up, but truth be told, it's hard to say if that's an issue with Apple or Textfree.
