MWSF sees an 'explosion' of OS X products

According to Mac OS X product manager Ken Bereskin, ""We've seen 1,000 native products released in the past 90 days. And the number of Mac OS X applications you can expect to see in coming weeks and months is unbelievable." And we thought the profusion of products announced and released in the last week was something (over three dozen listed in our daily digests alone).

  • MWSF: GraphSim goes Black & White, sells Sheep -- Black & White is the second game to come to North America via GraphSim as a part of their recent distribution agreement with UK publisher Feral; the first Feral-published game released distributed by GraphSim was Sheep. The comical action game drew solid crowds during the expo, and although it wasn't carbonized for Mac OS X it ran extremely smoothly under Classic on the showfloor.

  • MWSF: Discreet Cleaner 5.1 gains Mac OS X support -- Cleaner lets you create streaming video and audio for multimedia and the Web through transcoding of content for digital media formats.

  • MWSF: Mac OS X support comes to ShuttlePRO -- Contour Design has added Mac OS X support for its ShuttlePRO device for video, audio, and multimedia editing functions. It's comprised of three major components: the ergonomic hardware, the software drivers and control panel, and the application settings or pre-defined application support.

  • MWSF: Sybase enterprise software coming to Mac OS X -- For the first time, Mac OS X developers will have the ability to create large scale enterprise-class applications for Mac users with Sybase Adaptive Server Enterprise 12.5 for Mac. Plus, the company will develop Open Client for Mac, an Internet-enabled developer tool kit and will port its Adaptive Server Enterprise 12.5 enterprise-class relational database product to Mac OS X.

  • MWSF: XLR8 cuts prices on processor upgrades -- The Carrier ZIF (the original design) has dropped from US$109 to $79. The Carrier MPe (for Mach Velocity upgrades) has dipped from $119 to $99. The Carrier SSE (for six PCI slot machines) has been lowered from $139 to $119.

  • MWSF: MaxMenus brings 'flexible menus' to Mac OS X -- MacCentral got a sneak peak at the upcoming utility at this week's Macworld Expo San Francisco. If you were a fan of such tools for the traditional Mac OS as Now Menus, ACTION Menus, and ACTION files, you'll probably love MaxMenus.
