Popular New York City Apple Specialist Tekserve has been a landmark for Mac users in the city for more than a decade. Tomorrow they open a new 20,000 square foot location on West 23rd St, just down the block from their previous home.
The company had been on the fourth floor of 155 West 23rd St, but they're moving to a street-level storefront location at 119 West 23rd Street instead. The popular Apple reseller and service center will be "more accessible to customers" and will enable the company to expand its services, as well.
Tekserve president and co-founder David Lerner said that the new store doubles their floor area, and adds twice as many intake tables -- where customers sit down for one-on-one consultations with Tekserve representatives and get free estimates for service work. Tekserve has more than 30 Mac techs on staff. The company is well known for its customer-oriented approach to service (the staff doesn't work on commission, for example).
The company has specialized in video editing systems in recent years, and offers free weekly seminars for Apple's Final Cut Pro software. Tekserve said it would expand the seminar series to other areas like digital imaging and high-end desktop publishing, with an enclosed seminar/training room and a theater for other demos.
