Arcane Arena goes OS X

Arcane Arena
New York, NY-based Freeverse Software has released Arcane Arena 1.04, now with fully native Mac OS X support. It's Freeverse's own entry into the massively multiplayer online role playing game, but up until now, Arcane Arena has been for "Classic" Mac OS only.

Arcane Arena combines adventuring and combat as you explore a world populated by monsters from myth, legend and fantasy on a quest for treasure and glory. Along the way, you can interact with other Mac users in a shared, online.

Arcane Arena features a battle-time system, which compensates between your individual speed characteristics and the real-world rate at which you receive turns. Freeverse said that this combines the action of real-time gaming with the tactical combat of turn-based play.

As a massively multiplayer online role-playing game, Arcane Arena incurs a monthly billing charge of US$4.99. Alternately, you can pay $29.95 for a full year.

Freeverse encourages gamers to download the game and give it a try -- you can build up your character to the third level before having to register. Two versions are now available -- a download for Mac OS 8.1 through 9.2.1, and a Mac OS X native version.

System requirements call for Mac OS 8.1 or higher, 30MB RAM, 60MB hard disk space.
