Warcraft III Mac demo redux
Game publisher and developer Blizzard Entertainment has re-released a Mac demo version of Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos after pulling the demo from distribution over the weekend.

Mac gamers who grabbed the demo early when it was first released on Friday noticed that the 120MB archive was corrupted; for some, it meant hours wasted in download time. That problem has since been corrected, however, and the demo is once again available for download from a link on Blizzard's Web site.
Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos is a "role-playing strategy game" and the most recent installment of Blizzard's seminal strategy game series. The title puts you in control of Heroes in the land of Azeroth, a realm populated by Humans and non-humans alike, all who vie for control of the land. You're in charge of small numbers of soldiers and other specialized units as you go on quests and missions supporting each of four races in the game: Humans, Orcs, the Undead and Night Elves.
Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos was released to popular and critical acclaim several months ago, shipping with Mac and Windows versions installed on the same CD-ROM -- the first time that Blizzard has managed that feat with a major game release. Last week's release of the Mac version of the Warcraft III demo followed the PC version by only a few days. Typically, Blizzard waits some time after its games are released before offering a demo version, as demand for the games themselves is so high.
The Warcraft III demo itself includes a two-mission tutorial that introduces players to one of the game's central Heroes. Three new missions chronicle the Orcs' journey to Kalimdor. Demo users can also play head-to-head via Battle.net, Blizzard's own homegrown free online gaming service.
