Audio Hijack Pro update offers CLI support, more

Rogue Amoeba Software has updated Audio Hijack Pro, the "audio grabbing and enriching" utility, to version 1.2. The update adds, among other features, a new Pipe Dream plug-in for passing audio to any command-line application.

Audio Hijack enables Mac OS X users to grab and record audio output for just about any application. It also enables you to add digital signal processing (DSP) effects to audio output from any app, as well. Audio Hijack Pro incorporates the ability to record MP3 files, the ability to pause recordings, creation of sets of DSP effects called Patches, support for up to 100 VST and/or AudioUnits plug-ins at a time, and more.

In addition to the Pipe Dream feature, the 1.2 update offers: an updated Menu Bar Meters plug-in featuring VU meters; an updated Audio Hijack Server, which allows for Excluded Applications; German localization; and updated French localization. There are also some bug fixes, including issues with Presets List updating and some Timer-related problems.

Version 1.2 is a free update for registered users of the utility. For new users, the cost is US$30. A demo version is available at the Rogue Amoeba Web site for downloading and "test driving."
