Canto releases Cumulus 6

Digital asset management software developer Canto on Wednesday announced the release of Cumulus 6. It's available for download from the Canto online e-store.

Canto's Cumulus software enables users to find and manage digital assets like images, layouts, multimedia files, video, audio and text. The software is available in three editions -- single user, workgroup and enterprise. The software features Drag & Drop integration with commonly used creative pro applications on the Mac, including Adobe Photoshop, QuarkXPress and more.

Cumulus 6 introduces Mac OS X support for the first time with the client and single user versions of the product (server versions had already been made available). It also offers a variety of new features, like the ability to manage and access assets from a single window; the ability to switch between different views using preconfigured "View Sets," the addition of "Asset Handling Sets" to optimize handling of different formats and more.

Cumulus 6 also marks the introduction of Embedded Java Plug-in (EJaP) technology in the Cumulus line. This previously announced technology enables system integrator to more easily develop custom solutions for enterprise clients based around Cumulus server technology.
