Final Cut Pro User Group Network meets at Macworld

The Final Cut Pro User Group Network (FCPUGN), an umbrella organization for more than 30 Final Cut Pro user groups around the world, will gather at Macworld Conference & Expo for a special event featuring Randy Ubillos, Final Cut Pro's creator and chief architect, Sean Cullen, first assistant editor to Walter Murch during the production of the movie "Cold Mountain," and others.

Ubillos will be on hand to discuss the ins and outs of Final Cut Pro 4 while Cullen will share "war stories" from the editing of "Cold Mountain," for which he and Murch used Final Cut Pro. Gary Adcock and Brett Shapiro will also discuss the Final Cut Pro workflow, with the former elaborating on what's possible with FCP 4 and the latter covering "HD on a laptop."

In addition, FCPUGN promises filmmaker show and tells, including the screening of a 5-minute short created by the editor of the USA Network TV series "Monk," and a raffle with plenty of pricey prizes. Food and drink will also be on hand.

The event takes place at 7:00 p.m. on January 7, 2004, at the Mezzanine Club in downtown San Francisco. Doors will open at 6:00 p.m. and a US$5.00 donation will be requested. For more information, visit the Los Angeles Final Cut Pro User Group's Web page devoted to the event.
