'Magic Bullet' adds film treatments on FCP timeline

Red Giant Software LLC on Wednesday announced Magic Bullet for Editors. It's a new plug-in for Apple's Final Cut Pro video editing software that adds treatments on the timeline, offering film stock emulation, diffusion filter effects and film-look presets.

Optimized for Power Mac G4 and G5 systems, Magic Bullet for Editors sports 50 custom-designed "Looks" that alter shading, contrast and tints of scenes to mimic 35mm film. Misfire, a film damage creation tool, generates the characteristics of old film such as grain, splotches and scratches, as well as projection artifacts like flicker and gate weave.

Magic Bullet for Editors costs US$299. Red Giant Software will demonstrate the new software at NAB 2004 later this month in the ProMax Systems booth #SL4218.
