Apple Expo: Ovolab adds network caller ID to Phlink

Torino, Italy-based Ovolab on Tuesday released version 1.5 of its Phlink telephony product for the Macintosh. The new version of the software, demoed at this week's Apple Expo in Paris, adds network caller ID support, or what Ovolab calls "Applevous:" The ability to automatically broadcast caller information over the local network. A translucent window with information about the caller pops up on the screen of the Mac directly connected to the Phlink telephony device, or other Macs on the same network. Phlink can also answer telephone calls, record messages and store them on your Mac's hard drive.

Ovolab's Phlink combines both software and a hardware telephone interface that connects to the Mac using USB. Ovolab Phlink costs US$149.95 or €129.95 plus shipping, and requires Mac OS X v10.2 or later. Version 1.5 is a free update for existing users.
