4D 2004 offers new design environment, more

4D Inc. announced on Tuesday that it is now shipping 4th Dimension 2004, a new version of the company's database software that has been redesigned to take advantage of Mac OS X v10.3. Upgraded features, which number over 100, include a streamlined Design environment, a new Form editor, new interface objects and the addition of such Web services as XML streaming generation, XSLT and others. In addition, 4D 2004 includes new automatic backup and restore features as well as automatic application distribution.

Pricing for the full version of the software starts at US$349, which includes unlimited runtime. Upgrade pricing will be available, although it was not listed on the 4D Web site as MacCentral posted this article. You can download a trial version of 4D 2004, which requires Mac OS X v.10.2.8, a G3 processor and 256MB RAM.
