Sony's new Euro ads hope to counter iTunes

Sony is hoping to counter the growing European popularity of Apple's iTunes Music store with a new ad campaign to raise consumer awareness of its own Connect service. The company announced its plans at this week's Popkomm music event in Berlin, Germany, and it comes at a time when Apple seems poised to extend its reach beyond the U.K., France and Germany, where both Apple and Sony are competing now. Yesterday Apple Vice President of Applications Eddie Cue told attendees that Apple will expand its iTunes Music Store to "cover a good portion of western Europe," though he was short on specifics.
