DeskShade 2 adds iPhoto support, more

MacRabbit on Tuesday released DeskShade 2, the latest version of its utility for organizing and activating desktop pictures. This upgrade adds support for choosing images directly from your iPhoto albums and features Desktop Central, a new desktop organizer that allows you to drag and drop images directly into the software, even pictures found on Web sites. Desktop Central also offers a Color Variation tool that you can use to adjust an image's colors.

In addition, DeskShade 2 introduces the ability to create transitions from one desktop image to another, complete with one of six effects, as well as the option to automatically lock your computer after a period of inactivity. Finally, you can use the DeskMovie feature to lay a QuickTime movie on your desktop and alter its opacity so that you can still see the files underneath as the video plays. DeskShade 2 is a US$6.99 upgrade from the previous version, or $12.99 for new users. Anyone who purchased version 1.x after Aug. 24 can upgrade for free. Mac OS X v10.3 is required.
