FileMaker, .Com Solutions and New Millenium Communications on Monday released updates aimed at users employing FileMaker databases in an enterprise environment. FileMaker's JDBC update brings the xDBC plug-in and JDBC client driver to Mac OS X, enabling Mac users to use FileMaker products as JDBC data sources for sharing information with others. Those with FileMaker Server 7 Advanced can also share data with Windows-based ODBC or JDBC applications. FileMaker notes that the ODBC client driver is in development and will be released during the first quarter of 2005.
.Com Solutions' FmPro Migrator 2.68 Enterprise Edition allows you to convert repeating fields created in FileMaker Pro to Sybase and DB2 Database tables. In addition, it automatically creates SQL code for repeating fields, executes a drop column script for unneeded columns in Sybase databases, improves the code that maps FileMaker field names into database column names to help avoid duplicates and more. This is a free upgrade for registered users.
Finally, New Millenium's MetadataMagic 2.0.3 offers support for FileMaker Pro 7.0v3, improves the conversion log analysis tool and conversion issues report and fixes a variety of bugs. This is also a free update.
