A quickie:
If you’ve configured OS X’s login window so that it displays a list of users for that computer (this is done by clicking Login Options in the Accounts system preference) and would like to view blank Name and Password fields when you reach this window, just press Option and Return and click on any name. The window with the appropriate blanks will appear.
How is this useful? If you’ve enabled the root user and the “Other” entry is missing from the list of users, you can invoke this shortcut and log in as root via this window.
