Created to mimic the effect of a Holga camera, the Lensbaby is a flexible lens attachment that lets you selectively focus on a small portion of an image by bending and squeezing the lens tubing. Parts of the image outside of the focus area become increasingly blurred and prismatic (see the photo to the right).
You can buy Lensbaby attachments for most SLR cameras. One thing to keep in mind is that the lens doesn’t communicate electronically with your camera body, so you’ll need to work in manual mode.
For some sample photographs taken using the Lensbaby, such as this one by Craig Strong, go to Lensbabies.com.
