ACD Systems International Inc. on Thursday released Canvas X, a cross-platform workflow solution for users who need to create, edit, present and distribute technical illustrations and other graphics files. It supports more than 100 file formats and can import over 80 of them, including DXF and DWG files. Annotation, mark-up and redlining tools enable users to collaborate with others, and they can create encrypted PDFs with security options that dictate who can view, edit or print them.
Canvas X is US$399.99 for the full software while upgrades from previous editions are $49.99 to $199.99, depending on the version. Add-on modules, such as a GIS+ module for sharing projects in a geo-referenced environment and a Scientific Imaging module, are also available; check the ACD Web site for more information. Canvas X requires Mac OS X v10.2.6, a G3 processor, 128MB RAM (256MB recommended) and 100MB free hard drive space.
