REALbasic plug-in adds Tiger Spotlight support

REAL Software on Wednesday announced the release of a new plug-in for its REALbasic development environment that provides developers using Mac OS X v10.4 “Tiger” to search their REALbasic source code using Tiger’s new “Spotlight” search capability. The plug-in is available for download from REAL Software’s Web site now.

Spotlight implements iTunes-style searches through the operating system. Using a magnifying-glass icon, you type your query and Spotlight instantly returns a live list of search results. Spotlight doesn’t just work on file names — it searches the content of the files too, as well as any text within them.

The plug-in released by REAL Software lets REALbasic developers using REALbasic 3.0 and higher to leverage Spotlight in order to search through their own source code. It requires no changes to an existing REALbasic installation in order to work. REAL Software has posted a Web page explaining how the plug-in works.
