Sygate Technologies on Thursday introduced Sygate Secure Enterprise (SSE) for Mac OS X. The software lets enterprises running Macs centrally manage firewall and intrusion protection settings. SSE for the Mac works using Intego’s NetBarrier X3 software.
SSE lets administrators centrally configure systems to handle incoming and outgoing network traffic based on ports, protocols, trusted IP address and applications, according to Sygate. The concept is called “Compliance on Contact,” according to Sygate director of product management Eric Winsborrow — the idea that systems are configured correctly to comply with a company’s security settings before they’re allowed to connect to the network.
“We are excited by the opportunity to include another important community of endpoints in our solution, protecting them from malicious access,” said Winsborrow in a statement.
Pricing and availability were not yet posted to the Sygate Web site as MacCentral posted this article. General information about NetBarrier X3 is available from Intego’s Web site; the software requires Mac OS X v10.1.1 or later.
