Breece Hill on Wednesday announced that their iStoRA backup server has been qualified by EMC Dantz for use with its Retrospect backup software. The Disk-to-Disk-to-Tape (D2D2T) system supports Mac OS X, Windows and Linux operating systems, and is aimed at the small and mid-sized business (SMB) and workgroup markets. The iStoRA system starts at US$17,995.
iStoRA servers feature 2 to 3.2 terabytes (TB) of total disk capacity, and can archive from 4 to 13TB on tape autoloaders. Retrospect is installed on the iStoRA system itself, which acts as a complete network backup and archival solution. The iStoRA hardware is based on single or dual-processor Xeon designs and can support up to 16GB of DDR2 RAM. It also features integrated expansion units that let companies add more disk or tape library capacity as needs change.
