Extensis announces Portfolio 8
Extensis on Thursday introduced Portfolio 8, a new version of its digital asset management (DAM) software for Mac OS X and Windows. It’ll be available for purchase in December in standalone, client/server, NetPublish and SQL Connect versions, with prices starting at US$199.95. Upgrades start at US$99.95.
The new version of Portfolio improves workflow management, with features to organize and route digital files using visual catalogs and embedded metadata. It adds the ability to add cataloging presets to “AutoSync” folders, so files can be moved through a workflow by dropping them into folders on the file server. Portfolio can now keep track of a job’s status, as well.
A new series of sample catalogs help users with the management of professional photography, stock images, document routing and approval. Portfolio can now use automatically created Screen Previews for generating CDs, DVDs, Web sites and e-mail. New gallery features include private galleries, accessible only by the original creator.
Portfolio 8 also gains speed improvements, workflow and metadata handling.
System requirements call for Mac OS X v10.3 or later, G3/1GHz or faster, 256MB RAM, 200MB hard drive, CD-ROM, QuickTime 6.5 or later and Macromedia Flash 7 or higher.
Extensis Web site still pointed to Portfolio 7 as MacCentral posted this article.
