EvolutionTV adds timeshifting, more

UK-based Mac accessory maker Miglia Technology on Wednesday offered a software update to version 2.5 for its EvolutionTV Personal Video Recorder (PVR) hardware. The update is a free download for registered users, available from Miglia’s Web site.

EvolutionTV is an external device that plugs into the USB 2.0 port on your Mac. It records video from cable, antenna or satellite and other analog sources, featuring MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 encoding and DivX compression as well.

The new 2.5 version of the software that powers the EvolutionTV allows users to “timeshift,” pausing, rewinding and forwarding live TV. Users in Europe now gain access to tvtv’s online program guide. The user interface has been redesigned, as well. And version 2.5 adds “MovieGate,” a third-party DVD burning tool, to archive your recorded shows to DVD.

System requirements call for a G4/1GHz or faster, Mac OS X v10.3 or later, 256MB RAM, and USB 2.0. EvolutionTV costs US$249.
