Aspyr Media announced Monday that they plan to publish a Macintosh conversion of the popular World War II shooter Call of Duty 2. The new game is coming in May, 2006.
Call of Duty 2, developed by Infinity Ward and licensed by Activision, returns players to World War II as they assume the roles of several soldiers fighting in the European theater of war. You’ll join missions in North Africa, D-Day assaults and Russian battles as the Allies fight against the Nazis.
Gamers familiar with the original Call of Duty will find that Call of Duty 2 features a new graphics engine that offers dramatically improved graphics and special effects. Artificial Intelligence (AI) has been overhauled as well to provide even more realistic reactions from computer-controlled soldiers, who communicate with you using a new battle chatter system.
There’s also an elaborate multiplayer component that builds on the groundwork set with the original Call of Duty.
Call of Duty 2 will be available soon for pre-order from Aspyr’s Web site; it costs $49.99. The game is rated “T” for Teen by the ESRB. Aspyr’s Web site had not been updated with information about the new game as Macworld posted this article.
