Plextor offers network attached storage

Plextor, perhaps best known to Mac users for its external optical drives and personal video recorder (PVR) devices, has entered the Network Attached Storage (NAS) market with the introduction of its PX-EH line. Prices start at $299.

NAS devices enable you to set up instant file service on a network; PX-EH devices also include print server support for USB-connected printers. Throughput for FTP transfers is up to 94.5 megabits per second (Mbps), according to Plextor.

The devices are Mac and Windows-compatible, and come in aluminum cases. Setup is plug-and-play for users with DHCP-based networks.

The 250GB PX-EH25 model costs $299. The PX-EH40L has a 400GB capacity and costs $449.

Plextor’s Web site had not been updated with information about the new NAS devices as Macworld posted this article.
