'Great Day Games' casual game site targets women

Arkadium Inc. has announced the launch of Great Day Games, a casual gaming Web site that targets women, specifically.

The site features many variations on games you’re likely to find at casual gaming sites and portals all over the Internet, but Arkadium said that Great Day Games’ hook for female players is its unique branding, design, and use of “Treats” prizes. “Treats” are the currency of the site — as you play, you amass Treats credits, and you can redeem them for opportunities to win prizes in online sweepstakes. Prizes include gift cards to retailers and beauty product merchants.

The site features more than 50 online casual games, and they work with the Mac, according to an Arkadium spokesman. The games are built using Flash technology.

Right now Great Day Games features leaderboards for gamers interested in a little bit of online competition, along with message boards. Arkadium plans to enhance the site’s social networking capabilities in the future — with features like online chat, blogs and a more robust award system.
