Miglia Technology on Monday announced the TVMicro, a new analog TV tuner for Macs that measures about the same size as an iPod shuffle. It costs $99.
The TVMicro uses a USB 2.0 interface and works with antennas and analog cable television feeds. It’s well suited for users on the go, according to Miglia. It ships with Elgato’s popular EyeTV 2.0 Personal Video Recorder (PVR) software, which lets you watch and record video from television or other analog video sources, check what’s on using an Electronic Program Guide (EPG) and more. A remote control is also included.
Files can be recorded in MPEG-1 or MPEG-2 formats. The software also lets you switch to a “DVD Quality” MPEG-2 format. Recording video requires a dual G4, dual G5 or Intel Core Duo-based system for full-sized recording.
The TVMicro requires a G4, G5 or Intel-based Mac with USB 2.0 interface, Mac OS X v10.4 or higher.
