G-Technology Inc. on Monday introduced its G-Speed external RAID system. Designed for high-speed data transfer using Fibre Channel, the 4 gigabit per second disk array features RAID Level 6 protection and storage capacities up to 3 terabytes. Look for the G-Speed in June starting for $3,999.
Developed for content creation applications, the G-Speed can support multistream Standard Definition (SD) and uncompressed High Definition (HD) video editing workflows. It’s a compact desktop tower that features hot-swappable disk drive modules and fans and a redundant power supply option.
The G-Speed is Mac OS X and Windows XP-compatible and is Storage Area Network (SAN)-ready. It’s compatible with RAID Levels 0, 1, 3, 5 and 6, and can be configured and managed using a Web browser built-in Ethernet port.
G-Tech’s Web site had not been updated with information on the G-Speed as Macworld posted this article.
