Xeric Design on Tuesday updated EarthDesk, the company’s real-time dynamic desktop map. With Version 3.5.1, EarthDesk is now available as a Universal Binary that will run on both PowerPC and Intel-based Macs. The company also fixed a problem with the cloud images — images are now date-verified to be newer than the previous image. EarthDesk replaces your static desktop picture with an image of the Earth showing current sun, moon and city illumination as well as real-time global cloud coverage. EarthDesk requires a Macintosh PowerPC or Intel system with Mac OS X 10.3 or newer — the software costs $19.95.
