Freeverse Software announced Wednesday that it’s shipping WingNuts 2: Raina’s Revenge, a Mac-original arcade-style action game. WingNuts 2 costs $29.95.
WingNuts 2 puts you in the pilot’s seat of a time-traveling hero who must stop the evil Baron Von Schtopwatch, the mysterious “Raina,” and swarms of robotically-controlled airplanes and dirigibles who assault you throughout history.
You encounter airborne enemies from as far back as the 1920’s straight through to the distant future as you warp through time to fight the evil (and wacky) Baron and his minions. You’ll go up against more than 100 real-world aircraft, helicopters, blimps, tanks and submarines, including dozens of “boss” planes and ground units, collecting power ups and bonuses along the way.
Freeverse President Ian Lynch Smith said in a statement that WingNuts 2 is the biggest Mac-specific game to be released in years. “Targeting just the Mac means no performance compromises (and lower system requirements) — and we can design in cool OS X specific technologies like CoreImage and iSight integration. We’ve worked really hard on this game and think it looks spectacular, especially on new MacBooks.”
WingNuts 2 features advanced OpenGL and 3D particle effects, and it includes a custom-built game editor that lets you create your own scenarios.
WingNuts 2 ships as a Universal Binary that runs natively on Intel-based Macs. System requirements call for Mac OS X v10.4 or later, G4/800MHz or higher, 32MB VRAM, 512MB RAM and 950MB hard disk space.
WingNuts 2 is available today for electronic download. A DVD version will reach retail stores in July.
