Google quietly adds Safari support to Calendar

Google has quietly added support for Apple’s Safari Web browser to its Calendar application. Calendar lets users track events online using a Web browser or supported phone or portable device.

Google Calendar lets you schedule and track events similarly to iCal and other personal calendaring software, but it works through a Web browser. When Google launched Google Calendar earlier this year, the service worked on the Mac but didn’t support Safari.

Users reported being able to use Safari with Google Calendar, but only marginally: Certain features didn’t work correctly. Those problems would seem to have been resolved, as Safari is now on the list of supported browsers. Officially, Google Calendar works on Safari 2.0.3 for Mac OS X v10.4.

The service supports the ability to import iCal files and CSV files from Microsoft outlook. You can set up reminders to be sent to your cell phone or mobile device, invite guests, integrate with Google’s Gmail e-mail service and more. Google Calendar is free to use.
