Utility developer Micromat has announced the release of Universal binary versions of its TechTool Protege and DiskStudio products that now run natively on Intel-based Macs. TechTool Protege and DiskStudio cost $229 and $49 respectively; upgrades from previous versions are both priced at $25.
TechTool Protege is a complete diagnostic and repair system on a compact, bootable FireWire flash drive. the software includes TechTool Pro, DiskStudio and several other utilities. It’s used by Mac techs who need to visit remote systems to diagnose hardware problems, recover hard disk information, repartition and perform diagnostic functions.
DiskStudio is disk partitioning software that lets you repartition a disk drive “on the fly,” without having to reinitialize the drive first. New to this release is support for the GUID partitioning scheme used by Intel Macs and support for the Master Boot Partitioning scheme used by DOS drives. It can also identify NTFS volumes.
