QuickerTek’s latest device, a 27dBm transceiver for Apple’s black and white MacBook laptops, is purported to provide a 100 percent improvement in wireless networking coverage. It costs $200.
The transceiver incorporates its own antenna and can be clipped onto the outside of the MacBook. It includes a five-foot cable if you’d like to locate it away from the MacBook itself.
QuickerTek says the transfer operates on all 2.4GHz Wi-Fi systems and supports both 802.11b and 802.11g wireless network standards. It boosts signal strength from the MacBook’s internal capability of about 50 milliwatts (mW) to 500mW using the transceiver. What’s more, the MacBooks’ internal antenna and Bluetooth capabilities remain functional when the transceiver is in use.
System requirements call for Mac OS X v10.x. The kit includes the transceiver, antenna, cable, adapter, AC power adapter, installation manual and utility software.
