Utility converts Google Gadgets to Dashboard widgets

Mesa Dynamics, makers of the Amnesty widget browser and other Dashboard widget-related software, on thursday introduced Amnesty Generator — a free utility that converts any Google Web page gadget into a Dashboard widget.

Google Gadgets fit the same niche as Dashboard widgets — they’re miniature applications that provide Google users with dynamic content that can be embedded in Web pages — calculators, currency converters, calendars, and more.

With Amnesty Generator, you simply copy and paste the Google Gadget’s HTML code directly into the Amnesty Generator window, then generate a new widget that works with Mac OS X v10.4 Tiger’s Dashboard software.

What’s more, Mesa Dynamics offers Amnesty Widget Browser, a software application that lets you run widgets free of Dashboard (even in Mac OS X v10.3.9), as well as Amnesty Singles, which can generate standalone Mac OS X applications based on Dashboard widget code.
