IntelliScanner offers barcode scanner for wine

Are you a wine collector? If so you might be interested in IntelliScanner’s new Wine Collector 200, a smart barcode scanner for Macs and PCs. It costs $299.

The Wine Collector 200 is a portable barcode scanner bundled with software that helps you track your wine collection — you can track bottle locations, calculate wine maturity, view bottles on a color-coded “Virtual Cellar” grid, and add custom ratings. When you drink a bottle, scan it again to mark it and add tasting notes. The software uses a three-paneled interface.

Wine Collector 200 includes Asynchronous JavaScript and XML (AJAX)-based Internet sharing tools that make it possible to publish your information online. You can create a personal home page with your wine collection on IntelliScanner.net.

Pre-printed asset tags are included in the package for those bottles that don’t already have barcodes.

By default, IntelliScanner includes a USB-based scanner. You can order a Bluetooth scanner instead for an additional price. System requirements call for Mac OS X v10.3 or later.
