Belkin’s CableFree USB Hub (F5U301) is due to hit retailers in mid-December for $199.99. The four-port USB 2.0 hub uses Ultra Wideband (UWB) technology to communicate wirelessly with a host Mac or PC using an included dongle. It’s Mac and PC-compatible.
The hub connects USB printers, scanners, cameras and other devices up to 30 feet away from the host computer, and transfers data at USB 2.0 speeds. Using only the dongle to connect to the host computer, you can place the CableFree USB Hub anywhere in the room you want to, making it suitable for laptop computers or other systems that you don’t want cluttered up with lots of cable connections.
Belkin’s Web site had not been updated with information about the CableFree USB Hub as Macworld posted this article.
