Gizmo Project maker SIPphone has announced the launch of Gizmo Call, which enables you to make and take Voice over IP (VoIP) calls using a Web browser.
Gizmo Call works with Mac and PC Web browsers using an Adobe Flash plug-in. It works with Safari, Firefox, Opera and other browsers, as well as Adobe Flash 9.
Gizmo Call offers free calling to almost any phone number worldwide, although that basic, free service is limited to five minutes per day (users can double that by registering their e-mail address). All users can also make unlimited free calls to anyone using Gizmo Project, Windows Live Messenger, GoogleTalk or any Session Initiation Protocol (SIP)-based device. If you want to make more calls, you can purchase “Call Out” minutes in $10 increments.
Registered users also gain features like customizable caller ID, an interactive call history, a personalized “Call Me” button that can be added to e-mail signatures, blogs and Web sites.
Linux support is expected within 30 days.
