MediaCentral developer Equinux on Thursday took the wraps off of TubeStick — a digital TV tuner that works with the DVB-T standard, used extensively throughout Europe. It costs €39.95.
The TubeStick connects to the Mac using an available USB 2.0 port. It’s based on Digital Video Broadcast - Terrestrial (DVB-T), free over-the-air digital broadcasting available in most European countries.
The device and accompanying software support fast location switching; channel surfing; a TV window that can be readjusted to different sizes and set to “always-on-top,” and the ability to record live TV broadcasts for later viewing. It’s also fully compatible with MediaCentral, Equinux’s media control software for Mac OS X.
