ChatterBlocker 1.1.0 is a new utility for Mac OS X that blocks unwanted speech so you can stay focus. The new 1.1.0 release marks the software’s debut on the Mac platform. It costs $19.95.
ChatterBlocker works by combining nature sounds, music and background chatter. It doesn’t use noise cancellation technology; instead, it tries to render speech you might be hearing less intelligible, as that can often be the main source of the distraction. The software was developed for office workers in cubicles and elsewhere they’re in close proximity to overhearing speech from other people.
You have control over the mix of nature sounds, music and background chatter. ChatterBlocker can play any number of tracks simultaneously, and includes “meditation” tracks to improve focus and relaxation. You can also use new sound files and create playlists.
System requirements call for Mac OS X v10.3.9 or later, 500MHz or faster processor, 128MB RAM and 75MB hard disk space. A demo version is available for download. It’s a Universal binary.
