Xsilva Systems has announced the release of LightSpeed Web Store, an e-commerce module designed to integrate with LightSpeed 2, their point of sale (POS) system for Mac OS X. It costs $899.
LightSpeed 2 features a “floating” iTunes-style interface. It supports sales and retail functions like quoting, ordering and invoicing, credit card transaction processing, gift card support and service repair, can be used for customer contact management, marketing, notes, inventory control and accounting.
The LightSpeed Web Store lets retailers produce a fully customizable e-commerce site for their operations, using PHP and CSS-based pages linked to their LightSpeed database. Products are set up in Web categories with special descriptions, prices and searchable keywords. The Web store can re-use imagery you’ve already got in the LightSpeed database; you can update photos by dragging and dropping images into the browser or using an iSight camera.
Other features include matching online shoppers to customizer records; e-mail alerts to let them know their order has been received, and the ability to flow order requests into LightSpeed’s purchasing system if the products are out of stock.
