Macworld Podcast: Bricked iPhones
Last week’s iPhone Software Update 1.1.1 is still very much on everyone’s mind in this edition of the Macworld Podcast. I’m joined by editorial director Jason Snell and my fellow senior editors Dan Frakes and Rob Griffiths to talk about the update, particularly on how it disabled unlocked iPhones and eliminated many third-party applications.
It’s not all negativity in this podcast—I also talk about last week’s iLife software updates and the new iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store that works with the iPod touch and the iPhone. I also say a few words on Amazon’s new Amazon MP3 digital music service.

We’ve posted a spate of commentaries about the iPhone software update—Dan Moren talks about his sadness over the loss of some really cool third-party apps, Rob Griffiths vows never to upgrade to the new iPhone software, and I fret that this is part of a disturbing pattern of behavior from Apple.
