Parallels Desktop Premium Edition adds security tools

SWsoft, makers of Parallels Desktop for Mac, on Wednesday announced Parallels Desktop Premium Edition. The bundle comprises Parallels Desktop, Windows anti-malware software, backup software and disk management software for $99.

Parallels Desktop enables Intel-based Macs to run Microsoft Windows and Windows-compatible applications without having to be restarted out of Mac OS X, unlike Apple’s Boot Camp software. When a Mac is running Windows, it’s vulnerable to the same kinds of virus and malware issues as a regular PC, so SWsoft is offering this new bundle as an option for users who want a complete package.

The software bundled with Parallels Desktop Premium Edition includes Kaspersky Internet Security 7., which protects and inoculates against viruses, spyware, spam and malware. Also included is Acronis True Image 11 Home, Windows backup software that let users back up individual files or complete volumes. Finally, the bundle includes Acronis Disk Director Suite, software that helps Windows users resize, move, copy, split and merge virtual disk drive partitions without losing data.
